Sydney, Tuesday (127 images in 6 chapters)
I started into this drizzly day by walking around Chinatown and Darling Harbor. By the time I'd reached the waterfront area, it began clearing up again. I walked up to Observatory Park and from there once across Harbour Bridge. The walkway is enclosed in a pretty high fence, so the view is not as enjoyable as for example on Brooklyn Bridge - there is, fortunately, a small gap to stick your camera through. After taking the train back across the bridge, I walked through the Royal Botanic Gardens to Mrs Macquarie's Point, from where one has a great view of the opera house and the bridge.
Melbourne, Sunday (217 images in 7 chapters)
I dropped of the car on Saturday morning and spent the afternoon with my feet up on the couch - after one and a half weeks full of action I needed a break. On Sunday, I started exploring Melbourne's downtown area - Flinder's Street Station, along the Yarra river, Southern Cross, RMIT, Carlton Gardens, Chinatown and the Docklands. Underways, I learned to check the small side alleys and lanes for interesting sights! Melbourne is a colorful, diverse and lively city, with lots of people out on the streets at day and night.
Gruyères (43 images in 2 chapters)
On Thursday, Sarah and Patrick had planned a day's trip to the small town of Gruyères. To get there, you need to take the Montreux–Oberland Bernois railway from Montreux (called the "train du chocolat") which takes you winding its way up throught the vineyards and finally passing through a tunnel high up above Lake Geneva into the Saane valley. After lunch (with lots of cheese, of couse), we strolled around the small town, enjoying the awesome weather and picturesque scenery. On out way back, we visited the Cailler chocolate museum in a small town called Broc.
Sinsheim (60 images in 4 chapters)
On a sunny mid-October Sunday, Gunnar, Frank and me went to the Auto & Technik Museum Sinsheim. I was most impressed by the Concorde and Tupolev, which you can walk inside: These planes were so cramped!

They both work at the EPFL, which is where the Rolex Learning Center is situated. The building has no single straight line on its inside or outside, which made it an interesting place for taking pictures.

Our last in day in Hong Kong lead us to the monastery at Ngong Ping, which can be reached by MTR and a cable car. In the afternoon, we went over to Hong Kong island once more, breathing in the busy flair of the Wan Chain District.

For the past couple of years, works have been underway for the city tunnel which will bring the Karlsruhe trams below the surface. Quite recently, they got the tunnel boring machine in place. Our visit to Scotland's capital city was unfortunately overshadowed by drizzly rain. Even without good weather though, this city is still beautiful! On Sunday, we escaped the rainy morning into the Musée du Louvre. We walked through most of it, went to see the Mona Lisa (which isn't as great as you'd imagine) and browsed through an almost endless number of rooms with even more paintings and sculptures. After that, we had a very "formidable" cheese burger and french fries and headed for the Gare de l'Est, heading back with the TGV train to Germany.
